Enerweb successfully concluded a groundbreaking utility analytics contract for a prominent South African mobile network provider. This marks a significant step towards implementing a virtual wheeling arrangement to advance the mobile network provider’s long-term environmental sustainability and energy security requirements.

In pursuit of the vision to transition products and services to 100% renewable energy sources, companies such as this mobile network provider are choosing to use Enerweb’s (virtual) wheeling analytical models to validate their internal energy portfolio investment decision-making.

Our Solution

Enerweb used its renewable energy analytics modelling capability to determine the optimal mix of renewable energy resources to meet such institutions’ energy consumption requirements. The optimisation parameters included renewable conversion, financial performance (net present value), and risk minimisation.

While advanced Monte Carlo simulation and linear optimisation were the primary tools being utilised, Enerweb leveraged its deep experience in the electricity industry modelling environment to identify the most optimal portfolios of generation assets for these virtual wheeling deployments.

Enerweb delivered a detailed numerical model to enable the engineering and commercial decision-makers to internally re-run the optimisations and investigate different commercial, engineering and investment scenarios to meet hourly electricity demand requirements at all their many load offtake points, and to quantify and mitigate against the various dimensions of risk.
