Enerweb was part of a consortium, with Nord Pool Consulting leading the project, to develop a Balancing Market (BM) for the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).
The objective of the project was to look at all options of available supply and demand and utilise them in a competitive manner to ensure that the system is in balance all the time. The consortium was expected to explore all options of the Balancing Market and in consultation with SAPP, recommend a market model best suited for SAPP’s current and prospective power markets.
As part of the project, the consortium delivered detailed specifications and business processes for the Balancing Market Trading System, developed the system according to specifications, and operationalised the system.
