The Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC), a privately-owned Zambian power utility, owns and operates transmission and distribution infrastructure across the Copperbelt Province. As a member of the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) and a leading regional power trader, CEC manages a high-voltage network of approximately 1 000 km of transmission lines, 42 substations, and 80 MW of gas turbine alternators, as well as 34 MWp of solar generation capacity through its subsidiary, CEC Renewables.

Limitations of the Existing System
  • Customer demand schedules were communicated via e-mail, increasing the risk of errors and delays.
  • Most power trading processes were performed manually, resulting in inefficiencies.
  • No interface with the SAPP system.

With its expanding role in the regional market and complex power trading operations, CEC required a comprehensive, automated Energy Trading System to support its Accounts Management and Power Trading departments.

Our Solution

Enerweb implemented a comprehensive Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) system tailored to CEC’s business and technical requirements. Built on Enerweb’s proven ETRM product, the solution delivers end-to-end functionality for power trading, settlement, and reporting.
