The role of the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) is to enable electricity trading in the Gulf region.
During this phase of the project, a model was developed to estimate, on a short-time basis (one day up to one week), the optimal dispatching of all generation fleet together with the expected power exchanges among member states. The optimisation is performed on an hourly basis and is carried out keeping in mind market and network constraints.
Enerweb was contracted to develop web interfaces to the model for the capturing of input data as well as the publishing of the results. The input data and results covered all the aspects required to implement a competitive electricity market including the data related to the transmission infrastructure.
