This assignment was divided into an investigation into metering quality on the e-terra SCADA archive, and investigation into energy balancing at main transmission and distribution substations between the Transmission SCADA data and Distribution ‘billing’ values at the boundary, and an investigation into the ‘non-technical’ factors that influence overall losses, including generation scheduling pattern and load variation patterns.

  • Extraction, mapping and fuzzy matching of GIS, SCADA and billing metering data.
  • Allocation of meters and feeders per main transmission substation and energy balance quality reporting, identification of cases where energy balance is due to configuration, missing data.
  • Extraction, filtering and mapping of hourly generation, and hourly overall distribution load, as measured at the Transmission/Distribution boundary.
  • Exploratory data analysis, multivariate regression model on significant variables.
  • Investigation and identification of temperature effects on overall losses and multivariate regression modelling of significant stations taking into consideration nonlinear temperature effects on loads, and the consequential second order effects on losses.
