Demand Response
Our Demand Response solutions provide a reliable,
environmentally friendly alternative to meet
utility peak demand and system reserve requirements.
Smart Grid
Enerweb's systems and solutions enable Utility customers to move from passive consumers to active participants on the electricity grid.
- Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems integration to System Operator, Distributor Customer systems, etc.
- On-site control and communication systems, enabling Utility customer participation in Smart Grid programmes.
Virtual Power Station (VPS)
Enerweb developed and implemented a VPS for Eskom, which involves the coordination of large customer curtailable load. Over 800MW is available for 'dispatch' via the VPS system, with a total of over 2300MW being projected by 2012.
The VPS platform provides the Eskom System Operator (SO) with a means to optimally schedule all Eskom's controllable demand side resources. It presents the SO with a consolidated view of all available 'Negawatts' at any given time, along with cost profiles for dispatch, in much the same way as conventional power station scheduling. The VPS thus effectively increases available system reserve capacity, thereby decreasing the need for emergency generation, brown outs and black outs.

Demand Response Support Systems
- Demand Market Participation (DMP) system enables Utilities to manage 'under-frequency' load control and other rapid response load reduction programmes.
- Real Time Pricing Systems.
DR-Pro
In response to the ever growing needs of Utilities and participating customers, Enerweb has re-developed its VPS solution to the extent where it has become an enterprise standard platform (DR-Pro). Enerweb has built on the experience gained from operating the Eskom VPS over the past four years. A ready-to-use solution for the end-to-end management of commercial and industrial focussed DR programs is now available for the Southern African market.
Utilities or Municipalities often find it hard to manage all the customers in a Demand Response program due to the large number of customers and the various contract terms, contact information, dispatch preferences, locations etc. The System Operator, National Control, Utilities, Municipalities or regional control staff who need the Demand Response are often under pressure due to network constraints and do not have the time or systems to manage all the customers involved in the various Demand Response initiatives.
DR-Pro solves this problem by being the interface between the System Operator/National Control/Utilities/Municipalities and the customers on the Demand Response programs.
